The president of the Czech Nano Industry Association (Czech NIA), Jiri Kus, explained that the Czech strength in nanotechnology was based on a long tradition in engineering, chemistry and optics. Czech NIA was founded in 2014, represents 42 companies in sectors ranging from textiles to batteries and nano-optics. Five nanofibre manufacturers are based in the Czech Republic, and nanofibre membranes are applied in face masks, respirators, air purifiers etc.
Nano-research at the Technical University of Liberec, PU Olomouc and VUT Brno was presented, and products and R&D of nine companies: NANOPHARMA, NanoTrade, IQS Group, FN Nano, Lada Vyvialova Creative Platform, SVCS Process Innovation, Lifetech and TESCAN Brno.
