Short content
In the introduction, Sarita Bajnath explains the sustainable development goals that the United Nations wants to achieve by 2030, and how the European Union contributes to this and strives for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050.
Here you can already find more information about the Sustainable Development Goals.
Here the European Commission explains what they want to achieve with the Green Deal.
Coordinator Daniel Egbe of the African Network for Solar Energy explains how African researchers contribute to sustainable development, what the grant for Utrecht4GlobalGoals from the municipality of Utrecht means for an African student, and how our discussion is linked to a parallel sustainable energy conference in Cameroon on 18-20 November.
In a role-playing game, you play the role of a citizen of Utrecht who will be confronted with the effects of climate change and the measures of the European Green Deal in 2030 or 2047.
Inspired by this, you will discuss in groups concrete recommendations for follow-up actions in your own circle and in Europe. Hillie van de Streek, Bas Roufs and Ineke Malsch lead these groups.
The boards of the RK St. Martinus parish Utrecht, the Ecumenical Janskerkgemeente and the committee Europadag Utrecht have already promised to discuss your recommendations. We also submit the recommendations via the website of the Conference on the Future of Europe and share them with the municipality of Utrecht and other organisations involved. Thanks to a subsidy for Utrecht4GlobalGoals from the municipality of Utrecht, admission is free, only drinks are at your own expense.
The workshop does not stand alone but is embedded in the climate pilgrimage that will visit Utrecht on 8 October.
