Utrecht-ANSOLE Sur-Place grant 2022
Call for applications by female postgraduate renewable energy students in sub-Sahara Africa

Through the Utrecht4GlobalGoals fund, the municipality of Utrecht will subsidise one ANSOLE Sur-Place grant to support a female Master or PhD studentin sub-Sahara Africa for 6 months, 250-300 euro per month. This subsidy can be used by the student to cover her costs of living and study expenses at her own university in the period 1 January – 30 June 2022.
Call deadline: Thursday 30 September 2021, 17.00 GMT.
Who is eligible?
Female students registered as master or PhD-student at an officially recognised higher education institute in a sub-Saharan African country. At the time of application, the applicant should be a member of the African Network for Solar Energy https://www.ansole.org/ and the topic of the MSc or PhD-thesis should be on renewable energy.
What should you submit?
- Copies of your graduation certificate(s) and registration documents with transcript into English
- Your detailed Curriculum Vitae in English
- A detailed motivation letter in English, why you need the grant to finish your master or PhD-thesis and what you intend to use the money for.
- A signed letter in English from your supervisor confirming that you are enrolled in the Master or PhD-programme and commenting on the quality of your studies and research.
- All documents must be combined in one single PDF and submitted by e-mail to daniel.egbe@ansole.org and ineke@ethicschool.nl before the deadline.
What we require from the successful applicant?
We intend to present the successful applicant by 9 October 2021, during a workshop on Sustainable Utrecht in 2030 in Utrecht, The Netherlands and during Energy2021-Conference (co-organised by ANSOLE, the Cameroonian Ministry of Research and Innovation and the University of Buea, Cameroon) in Yaounde, Cameroon on 18-20 November 2021. The successful applicant should send us a short video of maximum 3 minutes, explaining the topic of her Master or PhD-thesis in laymans terms in English and stating what she will use the grant for by 8 October 17.00 GMT at the latest. By 31 July 2022, she should submit a brief report in English presenting the results of the six-month study period, signed by herself and her supervisor.
